20th Century Studios’ “The Last Duel, ” a riveting fib of betrayal and reprisal set against the savagery of 14th century France directed by visionary filmmaker and four-time Academy Award( r) nominee Ridley Scott( “The Martian, ” “Black Hawk Down, ” “Gladiator, ” “Thelma& Louise” ), opens in theaters nationwide October 15, 2021. The historic epic is a cinematic and thought-provoking drama set in the midst of the Hundred Years War that explores the pervasive influence of men, the fragility of justice and the backbone and daring of one girl willing to stand alone in the service of truth. Located on actual phenomena, the movie unravels long-held presumptions about France’s last sanctioned duel between Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris, two friends turned embittered adversaries. Carrouges is a respected gallant knows we his fearlessnes and science on the battleground. Le Gris is a Norman squire whose ability and oratory originate him one of “the worlds largest” revered princelies in law. When Carrouges’ wife, Marguerite, is viciously aggression by Le Gris, service charges he rejects, she refuses to stay silent, stepping forward to accuse her attacker, an play of fearlessnes and disregard that gives her life in jeopardy. The following trouble by fighting, a grueling struggle to the death, residence the fate of all three in God’s hands.
