French motorist revels AlphaTauri team with first succes Lewis Hamilton penalised after pitting illegally
Pierre Gasly won the Italian Grand Prix for AlphaTauri, scoring an unlikely win at Monza as an incident-packed race proved ruinous for Lewis Hamilton. The life supporter finished in seventh, having led until the halfway target, when he was given a penalty for illegally registering the quarry road. Carlos Sainz was second for McLaren with Lance Stroll in third for Racing Point. Lando Norris was fourth for McLaren and Valtteri Bottas fifth for Mercedes.
It is Gasly’s first stately prix earn and the 24 -year-old was understandably joyous at the finish, the Frenchman having closed out with verve and sword. It was extremely harrowing coming only over a year after he was reduced from the senior Red Bull team to its sister outfit after the Belgian GP. His previous best was second at the Brazilian GP last year. It is AlphaTauri’s firstly triumph as well; the team’s only other win came in their previous guise as Toro Rosso, also here at Monza, when Sebastian Vettel earned in 2008. The last-place French operator to prevail a grand prix was Olivier Panis at Monaco in 1996.
