Mary Lambert’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, released in 1989, provoked a sequel; Lambert also aimed Pet Sematary II, released in 1992. Despite the facts of the case that the 1990 s were a strange decade for horror, the sequel is actually better than you might have heard. With another adaptation of Pet Sematary set to made theaters in less tha 2 weeks, it’s not too early to wonder: Could this be the beginning of a brand-new franchise?

The question was put to Pet Sematary producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura by the tribes over at Consequence of Sound recently, and the inquiry derived an interesting response. How about a prequel?

“I generally don’t start thinking about[ sequels] until they’re a success,[ but] I think if there’s anything now, there’s a prequel. I think if you look at the book, we didn’t cover all that material that happens before the Creed family moves in.”

Sounds like an amazing opinion to me, extremely if it boasts Jud Crandall( perhaps as a young man ). With the chatter out of SXSW red-hot, chances are Pet Sematary will indeed be successful, so a prequel is actual very possible. I hope King will too approve. Time will tell.

Synopsis: Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, migrate from Boston to agricultural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discovers a inscrutable burial site obscured late in the timbers near their newly residence. When misfortune strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that releases an heinous sin with horrible consequences.

Pet Sematary is directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer and stars Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, and Amy Seimetz. Gaze for it in US theaters beginning April 5th.
