Gorgeous Kate and Nat chose the wonderfully quirky Le Petit Chateau as their wedding venue, with it’s magical ceremony room, oak-beam ceilinged party room and the gorgeous grounds, it makes a truly special place to tie the knot. The girls have some great advice on planning a wedding with two brides, and while in essence, it’s exactly the same as planning a wedding with a bride and groom, there are a couple of extra things to think about 🙂 Dresses, being one!

Images come from RMW favourites, Willo Photography, whose natural, reportage style has captured all the fun and emotion from Kate and Nat’s beautiful big day. Enjoy this one loves, it’s a party wedding through and through, I think you’re going to love it!

Our Wedding

Kate & Nat the Brides: It started with always being asked the nonsensical stereotypical question…“Who will wear the suit?” The answer was always the same…“Neither.”

Two girls getting married can still be mean ultimate glamour, two stylish dresses, two lots of fabulous bridesmaids and of course two elegant Mothers of the Bride competing over the biggest hat.
We wear dresses, make up and style our hair every other day of the year so why would we conform to an outdated stereotype on the biggest day of our lives?

The Dresses

One of the most momentous parts of any wedding day is the bride revealing her dress, but not only did we get to get excited about wearing our own dresses, we could also be excited about seeing each other. Nat’s sister Jess was the only person to have seen both wedding dresses prior to the big day, to double check that we hadn’t accidentally bought the same dress…which would make for an awkward situation on the aisle! Unbeknownst to us, Nat’s Catherine Deane Grecian inspired dress and Kate’s vintage lace dress (Eleni from Wed2b Liverpool) worked beautifully together and complimented each other perfectly. Nat had two bridesmaids and Kate had three, who managed to style up a £30 full length blush Boohoo dress effortlessly, proving that if your bridesmaids are glamorous enough, you don’t need to spend a fortune!

The Venue

We wanted venue that was as unique as we are and we just knew we found the one when we saw Le Petit Chateau. Having had a full day of wedding venue viewings a year before the big day, we turned up at Le Petit Chateau at 7pm on a cold, dark January evening. Walking through the door, we were welcomed immediately into a cosy, stylish reception area, to be greeted by the venue’s master of ceremonies, who proceeded to take us into the ballroom. The room stretched out before us, with the wooden, rustic tables set up with the finest crystal glasses, soft lighting making the elegant room glow. Before we’d gone any further into the venue we shared a look, we had found the place that we wanted to get married. The french chandeliers, chic gardens with boules, giant marble feature fireplace in Le Belle Epoque and a magical fire on water feature left guests mesmerized.

We styled the venue with a blush theme and up-cycled birdcages decorated with blush and cream flowers. One of our favourite touches of the day was the place names. We trawled Facebook and old family albums to find the most unflattering photos of our guests to make polaroid place names. despite the initial feign of horror from our guests, they went down a storm.

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was simply beautiful. We had a reading from Nat’s friend Lucy from university and a reading from Kate’s childhood friend Jess. Jess is pretty wild so we knew we were taking a risk letting her write her own piece – but the hilarious anecdotes about how we met worked perfectly and gave both us and the guests a laugh. We are very lucky to not only have friends talented with words, but we have a lot of musical friends as well so we couldn’t let the ceremony pass without an acapella performance of ‘Symphony’ (Zara Larson and Clean Bandit) performed by friends and family and arranged by Kate’s maid of honour.

The Reception

Like most of our relationship, big decisions such as the colour scheme, cake, flowers and entertainment were a breeze, we agreed on every single detail. What people may remember most from our day was the surprise Singing Waiters. Who doesn’t love a sing a long over their sticky toffee pudding?! They were brilliant and really got the party started, even performing a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and handing Kate’s dad a Liverpool FC scarf to sway with! As the night went on, we had a magician (Paul Lytton) who left the guests astounded and a live band (Union Street) who performed a mix of rock and pop classics.

The cake was made by Kate’s friend from University and managed to travel all the way from Manchester in the heat wave and remained in one piece. Our ‘Love You More’ cake topper from Notonthehighstreet was a nod to Kate’s Nan’s favourite saying.

The Photography

Our photographers Lee and Karen (Willo Photography) were friends of ours prior to the wedding but they really pulled it out the bag, putting everyone at ease and giving us natural photos, capturing guests laughing and being ridiculous throughout the day, as well as some beautiful shots of the brides. They made us realise just how important it is to have a relaxed relationship with your photographers to put you at ease for those candid and natural shots.

The Film

The day was videoed by Getfilm who were extremely discrete and provided a full length video of the day and even a trailer of highlights – making it easy to share on social media for guests to spot themselves and giving people who couldn’t attend an idea of how the day went.

Ultimately, the theme was relaxed glamour and it went perfectly to plan, proving two brides really are better than one.
