A visit to an artist’s studio is one of the best ways to find out about new effort before it thumps the gallery or winds up ensconced in the museum. This weekend’s Inglewood Open Studios features dozens of craftsmen at various sites, from those who have been developing their form over decades to those fresh out of artwork institution and self-taught artists.

The program kicks off with an opening reception at Residency hall Friday nighttime, must be accompanied by two afternoons of open studios. Players can hop on a shuttle three different safaruss, or they can follow their own track with the help of this planned.

Nestled into a pocket of Southwest Los Angeles, the city of Inglewood sits in the shadow of LAX, and a short drive from both Culver City and Leimert Park. The municipality is positioned for a major conversion over the next few years, with two main sports stadiums strategy, two new Metro stations, and a new Frank Gehry-designed house for the LA Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles. Hopefully these changes will too entail a boon for the city’s artwork vistum, anchored by halls like Residency and Mandujano Cell, and the various artist’s studios open to the public this weekend.
