A retro fan-made trailer for an early 1990 s Justice League imagines what it would look like if Michael Keaton’s Batman, Christopher Reeve’s Superman, and Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman united. Followers are still awaiting a good Justice League movie, after the failure of DC’s theatrical form in 2017. Zack Snyder is hoping to fix that iteration with his Director’s Cut, set to be liberated as a four-hour mini-series on HBO Max in early 2021. That movie brings together Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Ezra Miller’s Flash, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.

But those actors weren’t the first to play their people. There ought to have numerous iterations of each, but for a particular generation, the three conducting members of the Justice League – namely Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman – were best portrayed by Reeve, Keaton, and Carter. Carter represented the Amazonian Princess on Wonder Woman from 1976 to 1979. Reeve represented the Man of Steel in four movies of differing aspect from 1978 until 1987, and Keaton was the first big-budget screen Batman. The references were never seen on screen together, sounding as they did across such a long stretch of time.

But YouTuber AListProductions has turned fantasy into reality by editing together a retro trailer for a 1993 explanation of Justice League that performs Reeve, Carter, and Keaton, along with John Wesley Shipp’s Flash and a cameo from Helen Slater’s Supergirl. The trailer goes all-in, working Jack Nicholson’s Joker, considered to be in 1989 ‘s Batman and Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor from Reeve’s Superman movies as the devils. Footage from all of the TV registers and movies each performer performed in is combined to imagine a terribly 1990 s blockbuster know, ended with video interruptions and shitty CGI. Ironically, two of the actors in the retro trailer are still playing versions of their reputations, with Shipp sounding as various different versions of the Flash on CW’s TV show of the same name, and Keaton recently signing to appear as Batman is againin The Flash movie. Reeve, sadly, passed out in 2004 and never got to see his iconic role reprised on the big screen, while Carter was recently part of the DC Universe again, sounding as President Olivia Marsdin on Supergirl.

Besides being incredibly well-edited, and presenting a piece of fantasy nostalgia that fans are sure to eat up, the love trailer also offers a fascinating look at an alternate universe where Justice League was prepared in the early 1990 s. That alternate universe version of the movie sure seeks a little ham-fisted and cheesy. Still, it would also no doubt have been a huge blockbuster made and would likely have heralded in the age of Superhero movies a couple of decades early. For supporters, unhappily, this devotee trailer is the only view they’ll get at that alternating universe.
