We don’t get to cover a lot of jungle now at Your EDM. It’s not that we don’t like jungle- quite the opposite, actually- but despite its most recent revitalization in more mainstream bass music, forest account names tend to keep to themselves and are a bit protective of their substance. It’s understandable, certainly, with all the flagrant sampling that gone on with moves from this grandfather of bass music. Jungle overpowers, violates, amens and vocals have been sampled so much better in other bass music genres and EDM at large that it’s almost impossible to find the source tracks, even if you know where to look.

Needless to say, we were revelled when Liondub International and one of its most prolific producers, Saxxon, decided to open up better access to Your EDM is not merely for its brand-new jungle liberates but also to give the bass music community a much needed bass music biography exercise. Saxxon’s new huge album Action Saxxon- Jungle Odyssey came out on September 21 and pieces 23 Saxxon-packed jungle raves featuring artist collabs from all over the bass music spectrum. AK1200, MC Coppa, Navigator and Blackout Ja are just a few of the artists on this LP which, while the lines are more recent, is still fairly the bass music autobiography reading in itself. It does salute 10 years of Liondub, after all.

To return forest devotees aged and new even more of a crash course in junglist tings, Your EDM queried Saxxon to come up with a playlist of his top ten forest moves of all time, and he did not frustrate. These lines form the bedrock of jungle and, effectively, all of bass music. Duet that with this new LP and you’ve mostly got a junglist PhD! Get ready to skank, rudebwoys.

Die- Special Treat

I will never get sick of this floating bassline and sample compounding. One of so many insanely good DJ Die moves that stand the test of time.

LTJ Bukem- Music

I meditated Logical Progression was actually snobbish when it was happening, chiefly because of the people who were into “intelligent DnB” had a supremacy thought going on, funnily fairly, and that didn’t estimate in my junglist ability. Take trendiness apart, add Danny’s charm and PFMs ingenuity and you got a golden era of sound to enjoy.

Just Jungle- Breather Tearout

Trouble On Vinyl and boy is it big trouble. Does literally exactly as it says on the tin and these amens are beautifully engineered. Pretty sure you could play this as a brand-new song today and no one would question it.

Rebel MC- Champion DJ

Come on acknowledge it! Every DJ affection a line that bigs up the DJ! This one boasts an amazing vocal flood and tune combo. Full of foundation vibe.

Shy FX ft David Boomah- On The Run

David Boomah kindness a great deal of early Shy FX numerals so hard to pick one. But this one rock-and-rolls and I’m fortunate enough to have a Saxxon Dubplate of it. This Style and many other Ebony Records pitches I have enormous memories of.” Becoming a wolf …”

Dillinja- Unexplored Terrain

This one is super late other worldly jungle hard gradation at it’s best!

-ASides- Cry/ Big Request

Two stone cold A Sides tearout ways. Rend with its intense potent vocal intro build and build to such a pleasant subs and amen discontinue. Big Request has always announced so pushed but I perfectly cherish it just as it is. Big and strong. Both songs would go off today.

Kenny Ken- Everyman

Everyone ardours a bit of Kenny and this sing sums up a lot of his respectful predispositions. I have to ask to remix it!

B-Jam- Dr Funkula( DJ Hype Remix)

Both mixes of this settle a terribly cheeky smile on my face. If only modern melodic jump up had this much charm!

Zinc- Super Sharp Shooter( both mixes)

If you weren’t spelling out the designation and hanging on the large-hearted hiss sound before the put were you even raving? Desire the extended bassline VIP too !!

Action Saxxon- Jungle Odyssey is out now on Liondub International and can be purchased on Beatport or streamed on Spotify and Soundcloud.
