Netflix is dialing up the awkward for its new dramedy, Sex Education.

The streamer has stopped the official trailer for the upcoming serial, and it looks more engaging than I thought it would be based on the logline.

“Surrounded by guidebooks, videos and tediously open communications about gender, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject, ” predicts the official logline.

“When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status.”

“He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground gender care clinic to deal with their fellow students’ odd and superb problems.”

“Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realizes he may need some care of his own.”

Asa Butterfield( Merlin) will take on the role played by Otis Milburn, while Gillian Anderson( The X-Files) will toy his fornication healer father, Jean.

With everyone at the school learning about Jean’s professing, well, it’s freshening that Otis is using it to his advantage instead of becoming a pariah.

Netflix previously divulged the show’s eight-part firstly season will get underway Friday, January 11.
