It can happen to the best of us. You’re just loiter around one Friday afternoon and think to yourself,” you know what? I suppose I’ll make the Ferrari F40 for a spin .” As you do. Sadly, for this poor owner, Ferrari Friday was quite literally wrecked. It happened in Queensland, Australia and videos and photos of the clang swiftly represented the rounds on the internet.

The damage is extensive, and it looks like there isn’t a single person panel that was left intact. According to The Drive, the owner was taking the car on one final shakedown before putting the car up for sale the next day. Apparently, it was the first time the car had been driven in 5 year, and old-fashioned tires are probably part of the reason for the clang. Driving anything on old rubber is a bad idea, but the F40 is a notoriously slippery auto to handle, specially when the 2.9 -liter twin-turbo V-8 comes on boost. If there is a silver lining here, it’s that both the operator and passenger walked away from the gate-crash unharmed. But the same can clearly not be said for the F40.

To make this big red pill even harder to swallow, some have reported that the F40 was uninsured at the time of the accident. That means that not only did this driver write off practically$ 2 million USD worth of acclaimed Ferrari, but that the owner will too have to pay out of pocket to fix the damages–if he chooses to fix it at all. And as if all of that wasn’t enough, according to an Australian news outlet, the driver was issued a ticket for” not being in control of private vehicles .” That’s one helluva lane to start your weekend.

RIP Ferrari F4 0. We hope that members get reverted to your former honour, and soon.
