The film’s director, Apolline Traore, was born in Burkina Faso and educated in the US before returning to the country of her birth and working with Idrissa Ouedraogo. Borders is her third feature, a superhighway movie about four very different wives wandering across beautifully evoked terrains from Senegal to Nigeria, having sensational, outraging or comic chapters on the hot and dirty road.
